Dear oh so beautiful diary,
It has been one heck of an adventure upon this oh so corrupting island. We as young English boys came to this stranded piece of land amongst the deepest depths of the ocean, and now the ones left have been rescued by the navy. If it hadn't been for the timely arrival of the naval officers, I may not be writing to you today, I may as well be dead. Jack and his boys were chasing me, setting fires, trying to burn the island down just to cut off my head! Who in the Lord's name would want to cut off another boys head? I am telling you, this island is full of bad, corrupting ways! We were all friends upon our crash landing, but after awhile power and greediness got in the way of our once pleasing behavior! Piggy has died due to our selfishness! This behavior is unacceptable, or was, for now we are heading home or at least I think we are.
With all my hope and sincere regrets,
Ralphy Boy

Dear most loving diary,
I am still not very happy about this transfer of power between Jack and my so adorable self, well not so much anymore. These division of camps is totally uncalled for! Why should we divide at a time when we need to come together and help one another so that we may find out how to escape from this dreadful island. I am so sick of this drama, I honestly thought that I would never witness drama among so man boys. There is an abundance of drama present on this island full of stranded boys. Now with these arguments between Jack and I, we are always at war it seems and now more and more boys are leaving me for Jack. They are all caught up in hunting, hunting for Jack to collect meat for all these feasts that they always are celebrating. I STRONGLY DISLIKE JACK AND NOBODY IS LISTENING TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY!
With much distress,
Ralphy boy

The Breakthrough and Breakdown
Dear Diary, yet again,
I have come to the conclusion that my leadership among the children is decreasing greatly. Jack is overpowering me and this is very depressing to me. I must regain my reign yet again! How can such a raggedy boy as Jack, take my throne away from me!? It just doesn't fly with me, but no worries the children will come to their senses. We have been discovering more pigs, we are hungry and need food especially meat. Pigs are a good supply of food and thanks to Jack, we were able to eat. Not everything about Jack makes me mad, I will say that I am glad for his hunting skills. Without Jack we would be fighting intensely just to stay with peace in our island community. We have also found out that there is a beast that has been stalking us, but we have no idea as to where it is. The jungle is full of adventures, but there is also danger that we are facing. Fear not for I will overcome this drought of my power and I will safely protect the children of my colony. Jack will also keep up his hunting skills and each of us will provide and pitch in to bring success to our island.
With much much hope,
Ralph

Day One
Dear Diary,
On day one I found out that there are many other boys on the
island that also crashed upon the same place I was. I met this one boy named
Piggy; he was the first person I met after the crash. Piggy is a heavier set
kid and he also has asthmar. Asthmar is a type of problem he has with his body
that makes it so he cannot run. Since he cannot run, I left him behind to take
the names of the other boys we found on the island while Jack and Simon came
with me to adventure the terrain and hopefully find out if there are anymore
children or adults on this deserted island. Piggy also stumbled upon this
amazing shell, we think it is a conch but we are not positive, it makes really
loud and cool noises. We will blow the conch in hope that people will follow
the sound and thus find out just how many more people are on the same island we
are. Well it is time to go searching!
With hope,
Ralph
